Randy L. Combest Independent Financial Advisor |
I am an independent financial advisor who specializes in small businesses
owners, professionals and affluent seniors. I have been self-employed
for over 26 years. I started my first business right out of college
and leveraged the cash flow from the business to buy commercial real
estate. It provided some passive income and capital to go on to other
businesses and real-estate ventures. In total I have started, operated
and sold four different successful companies that provided me with
enough capital and passive income to fund a retirement portfolio and
start a financial advisory practice.
I know what it's like to work seven days a week and go into debt to
pursue a dream. A business can become like a second child, an alternate
identity. Even from the beginning of my first business I knew where
I was going, what I wanted to accomplish. Once I could define and identify
the "end game," I could then develop a plan, a structure and
the necessary goals to achieve it.
I
use this same concept in my advisory practice. One of my first questions
with new clients is simply that, "What is your end game?"
In developing a meaningful plan it's imperative to know where you're
going before you draw the map. The adage "beginning with the
end in mind" (Stephen Covey, 1989, Seven Habits of Highly
Effective People) is a very effective concept for developing
a highly effective, focused, long-term plan.
As a financial advisor my goal is to assist clients in understanding
the relationship between their business and their personal financial
goals. I help them to define "their end game" and create
a financial plan that helps focus their business and personal lives
toward a common goal. Planning is crucial to the success of an "end
game." Well-informed clients make better financial decisions.
Sound information and good advice help define the goals and actions
necessary to create and implement a financial plan, a plan that
will help shape the best financial decisions for their businesses
and more importantly, for themselves.
As an independent financial advisor, I have the freedom to customize
individual investment and retirement plan strategies. My obligation
is to the policy of uncompromising honesty and integrity in serving
my clients.
